The fifth round of the third tier produced 154 goals in 21 games and, for the first time this season, shook up the leaders. FC Porto dropped their first point, ADC Santa Isabel and GD Beira-Ria lost their unbeaten records, and CRC Quinta dos Lombos “B” fell at home to the team that had not yet won a game.

There was a 10-0 in Delães, an 11-3 in Series A, thirteen goals between MTBA and Vila Verde, and three teams who recorded their first win the same afternoon. At the end, only two teams in the whole championship had five wins from five: Casa Benfica Golegã and CDR Os Vinhais.

Series A: the clash of the unbeaten teams ended in a draw

Series A was the highest-scoring of the round, with 60 goals in seven games, and the match everyone was waiting for produced no winner. In Macedo de Cavaleiros, GD Macedense hosted FC Porto and they drew 4-4. Both arrived with perfect records and left with 13 points each, still unbeaten, but with one point lost. For the dragons, who had four wins and 34 goals, it was their first slip.

The most emphatic result of the matchday came at the Delães Municipal Sports Hall. ADC São Mateus beat GCR Nun’Álvares “B” 10-0, a ten-goal margin and the biggest rout of the round across all series. Delães are the only team in the series with two wins and two draws without defeat, have 11 points and are fourth.

FC Estrelas Susanenses beat Boavista FC 11-3 and rose to third place with 12 points. For the Boavista side, the picture worsens: five defeats in five and 50 goals conceded, the worst defence across the three series, and they remain the only team in the whole III Divisão still without points.

There were three debuts and one recovery. CA Mogadouro went to Lordelo and beat ACR Lordelo 0-3, their first win of the season and one of three clean sheets of the matchday. AA Johnson Januário/RL7 Grupo beat FC Marinhas 6-1, also their first triumph. And Leixões SC won in Resende against CDRC São Martinho de Mouros 3-5, their second straight win after an 0-8 defeat in Custóias, while the Resende side suffered their third defeat and fell to eighth place.

The series closed with CB Alfândega da Fé/Casa Aragão 5-5 Miramar Império, ten goals shared in Alfândega da Fé.

Series A summary: 60 goals in seven games, three home wins, two away wins and two draws.

Series B: Golegã made it five out of five and the last two scored

Series B was the tightest of the round, with 40 goals in seven games, well below the 65 of the previous matchday. It was also the round in which the leader pulled away.

Casa Benfica Golegã went to the Mendiga sports hall and beat ARCD Mendiga 2-3, becoming, with Os Vinhais, one of only two teams in the whole championship with five wins in five games. They have 15 points, 25 goals scored and only eight conceded, the best defence in the III Divisão.

Behind them, a new second-placed team emerged. CCDR Covão Lobo went to Coimbra and won 1-2 at União 1919, their third win, and with two draws and no defeats are the only team in the series, apart from the leader, still unbeaten. They have 11 points.

The two unbeaten records that fell belonged to the third and fourth placed teams. ACR Arnal beat ADC Santa Isabel 4-3 and AR Pederneirense beat GD Beira-Ria 4-3, a result that carries double weight: it was the first win of a team that had started on zero points.

PARC Pindelo also recorded their first points, with a 2-2 draw at home to ACR Saavedra Guedes, and ABC Nelas got their first win, 3-2 against FC Mozelos, five weeks after starting the championship without scoring for two matchdays. To close, Academia Condeixa won 4-5 at Retaxo and now have the best attack in the series, with 32 goals.

Series B summary: 40 goals in seven games, three home wins, three away wins and one draw.

Series C: Os Vinhais pull clear and Sonâmbulos win their first

The round began with an outstanding fixture resolved. On 17 October, at the Pavilhão Fidelidade, SL Benfica “B” and GD EB D. João I/Ópticafernandes drew 3-3, finally closing the 4th matchday of the series.

A week later, the 5th matchday produced 54 goals in seven games and left a single leader. CDR Os Vinhais beat AD Quinta do Conde/Easy Partners 5-3, reached five wins from five and 15 points, with 26 goals scored and nine conceded.

The surprise of the round came at the Lombos Sports Hall. CRC Quinta dos Lombos “B”, in yellow and black, who also had a perfect record, hosted Sonâmbulos FLA and lost 2-4. It was the first win for the Tavira side, who arrived with four defeats and 24 goals conceded. Lombos “B” are on 12 points, level with CDR Águias Unidas/PCF, who beat SR Manjoeira 5-2.

The highest-scoring game in the series was at the MTBA Sports Hall: GURD MTBA 6-7 SC Vila Verde, thirteen goals and a rise for Vila Verde to fourth place, with ten points. On Madeira there were eleven more: CDC Porto Moniz beat CR Leões de Porto Salvo “B” 6-5, in a clash that left both teams level on nine points.

SL Benfica “B” made the most of the busy week. After the draw of 17 October, they beat SCR Gaeirense 3-0, one of three clean sheets of the matchday, and rose to seventh place with seven points. GD EB D. João I/Ópticafernandes drew 3-3 with CA Santa Marta do Pinhal, who have two draws and are still without a win.
