Ivone Castro: “We want to impose our game, our intensity and our identity”
GCR Nun’Álvares play host this Saturday, 17 October, to SCU Torreense. The match kicks off at 7pm at the Pavilhão do Grupo Nun’Álvares in Fafe and is a Matchday 4 fixture of the first phase of the Liga Feminina Placard.
Ivone Castro, Nun’Álvares assistant coach, talks about the return to competition and about the opponent.
“After the break for the national team commitments, we are back in competition to face an opponent who, despite having been promoted to the Liga Placard this season, has a squad full of players with great quality and experience.”
As for Torreense’s start to the league campaign, the coach says it does not reflect the team’s worth.
“The less successful start to the league does not reflect the true worth of this team, which faced demanding opponents in the first few matchdays. We therefore expect a physically strong, intense and combative opponent, who will force us to be at our best level.”
On her own team, Ivone Castro talks about what she wants to impose on court.
“For our part, we want to impose our game, our intensity and our identity, going in with focus, attitude and ambition from the very first minute. We know it will be important to be consistent, both with and without the ball, and to maintain focus and collective commitment throughout the whole match.”
As for the return to competition, she sets out the goal.
“We want to return to competition with the same desire to compete and to keep growing as a team, delivering a positive response on court.”
